Jaume I, Rex Facetus: notes de filologia humorística

In the Llibre del rei En Jaume the author lets his sense of humour show through. Comic effect is based on fortuitous incident, lively, impudent responses from the characters, on wordplay and errors of expression on the part of people who have a poor command of a language that is not their mother tongue, and on the whole we can observe the king’s marked interest in linguistic diversity and expressiveness and in verbal humour. The analysis of these passages allows us to arrive at certain philological conclusions: further arguments against the existence of underlaying profificated ‘epic’ songs, the stylistic basis of royal mixed language and the confirmation of the previously discovered meaning of the word barbuda.En el Llibre del rei En Jaume l'autor hi deixa traspuar el seu sentit de l'humor. La comicitat es basa en incidents casuals, rèpliques vives i improperis dels personatges, o bé en jocs de mots i defectes expressius dels que no dominen un llenguatge que no posseeixen com a matern, i en conjunt s'observa un marcat interès del Rei per la diversitat i l'expressivitat lingüística i l'humor verbal. L'anàlisi d'aquests passatges permet extreure'n conclusions filològiques: arguments addicionals contra la teoria de les prosificacions, la base estilística del mixtilingüisme reial i la confirmació del significat ja conegut de la paraula barbuda
